Day 1

Arrival in Kigali – Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Upon arrival in Kigali, your safari guide welcomes you before beginning the scenic journey toward Uganda.

After a short briefing, you'll travel through Rwanda's famous rolling hills, passing beautiful villages, tea plantations, and cultivated countryside before crossing the Katuna or Cyanika border into Uganda.

Immigration formalities are completed before continuing into the spectacular Kigezi Highlands.

The drive becomes increasingly scenic as winding mountain roads lead toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its extraordinary biodiversity and home to nearly half of the world's remaining mountain gorillas.

Day 2

Gorilla Trekking Experience

Following an early breakfast, transfer to the Uganda Wildlife Authority headquarters for registration and a detailed gorilla trekking briefing by experienced rangers.

You'll learn trekking rules, safety procedures, and conservation efforts before being allocated a habituated gorilla family based on fitness levels and group size.

The trek through the dense rainforest can take anywhere from two to six hours depending on the gorillas' location.

Once located, you'll spend one magical hour observing these gentle giants as they feed, interact, groom one another, and care for their young.

Witnessing mountain gorillas in their natural habitat is considered one of Africa's greatest wildlife experiences.

Return to the lodge after the trek for relaxation and sharing unforgettable memories.

Day 3

Community Experience & Forest Exploration

Today offers a slower pace following yesterday's exhilarating trek.

You may choose to visit the Batwa Indigenous Community, where former forest dwellers share their traditions, hunting techniques, music, dance, and fascinating cultural heritage.

This experience provides valuable insight into the people who once called Bwindi Forest home.

Alternatively, enjoy a guided forest nature walk or spend time relaxing at the lodge while taking in spectacular rainforest views and abundant birdlife.

Bwindi is one of Africa's premier birdwatching destinations, with more than 350 recorded bird species alongside numerous butterflies, primates, and unique flora found nowhere else on Earth.

Day 4

Return to Kigali & Departure

After breakfast, check out and begin your scenic drive back through southwestern Uganda toward the Rwanda border.

Along the way, enjoy magnificent views of terraced hillsides, volcanic landscapes, traditional villages, and local markets before completing border formalities.

Arrive in Kigali with time available for a short city tour (depending on departure schedule), including opportunities to visit local craft markets or the Kigali Genocide Memorial if desired.

Your guide then transfers you to Kigali International Airport for your onward flight, marking the end of your unforgettable East African gorilla safari.
